This is a video about the myth about Persephone and demeter. it shows what happened when persephone was kidnapped. it shows alot about how Persephone and Demeter have alot to do with are earth and the seasons. such as summer winter spring and fall.
Zeus had a sister named Demeter. Demeter
was a great god so was her daughter. Demeter and Persephone were both great
goddesses. They had something in common they were both goddesses of the seasons
which in really unique. Demeter had a daughter named Persephone. Persephone was
born in 376 B.C. Demeter was the goddess of harvest and her job was very
important. If Demeter had gotten upset all the crops would die and there would
be no food to eat and that would be extremely bad for the earth. So every God
would do what they could to keep her happy. But overall the only thing that
really kept her happy was her daughter Persephone. Persephone was the goddess of
crops, plants, and things that would grow in the ground such as flowers. One day
while picking flowers she was kidnapped by Hades. Hades is the god of the
underworld. He was caught by her beauty. So he snatched her up and took her to
the underworld with him.
Persephone did not was in the like the underworld. She would not even
talk. But she was very hunger but she knew that she could not eat or she would
have to stay in the underworld forever but after a week and 2 days she was
really hungry so she ate 6 pomegranates.
While
Persephone had been kidnapped by Hades and was taken to the underworld on earth
Demeter was looking everywhere for her but she was no were to be found. She
found her clock on a tree. After 9 days and long night the world was coming to a
starvation. Zeus said he had to convince Hades to let Persephone go then the
world would have food again! Zeus sent Hermes to the underworld Hades would not
let his love go. Hermes tried all she can and she even ate from the garden so
she was no longer able to go back with her mother to earth. Then Hades said she
could go but only if
she would go half a year every year. So when Persephone got back to earth her
mom was very happy and all the crops grew back. Then everything was back to
normal.
